Ore Deposits
Vanilla's ores no longer appear when the world is made. In their place are Feedback's own ores: Coal, Iron, Copper, Gold, Lapis Lazuli, Redstone, Diamond and Emerald Ore, each in a stone and a deepslate kind, and the Nether's Gold and Quartz Ore. They look the same, dig the same, need the same pickaxe and drop the same things. They are different blocks, and that is the point: every ore in the world is now one the mod knows about and places by its own rules.
Vanilla's old ore blocks still exist, so one you find in a structure or take from the creative menu works as before. They just don't grow in the ground any more.
Finding them
Dig, as before. Each ore sits where it always did.
- Coal in the open: high up in the hills, and again as buried seams through the middle of the world. The buried ones show less in cave walls.
- Iron in three places: small flecks all through the rock, richer pockets in the middle depths, and plenty high in the mountains.
- Copper in the middle depths, in bigger masses inside dripstone caves.
- Gold deep, with a rare extra at the very bottom, and in the open on badlands mesas.
- Lapis around the low-middle depths, with more buried seams that never show in a cave wall.
- Redstone right at the bottom of the world.
- Diamond deep, in small flecks, bigger pockets, rare large masses, and buried ones that never show in a cave wall.
- Emerald scattered thin through mountain rock, in the mountain and windswept biomes only.
- Nether gold and nether quartz in the netherrack, all through the Nether. Gold still angers piglins when you mine it.
Crystals and clay
- Galena and Pyrite are crystal veins in stone, in the middle and lower depths. Both rectify, which is why a cat's whisker detector wants one. Galena also melts down to lead, and a hot enough fire sweats a little silver out of it.
- Kaolinite is a soft white clay, in lumps near the surface in the hills. It digs by hand, and fires into firebrick.
Mining them
Same tools, same drops. Coal ore gives coal, iron ore raw iron, copper ore several raw copper, gold ore raw gold, lapis ore a handful of lapis, redstone ore a few redstone dust, diamond ore a diamond, emerald ore an emerald, nether gold ore a few gold nuggets and nether quartz ore a quartz. Fortune gives more, and Silk Touch gives the ore block itself. Coal, lapis, diamond, emerald and the Nether's two also drop a little experience, and redstone too. Redstone ore lights up and glows when you touch or mine it, as before.
Iron, copper and lapis want at least a stone pickaxe; gold, redstone, diamond and emerald want an iron one; coal and the Nether's two take any pickaxe.
What did not change
Vanilla's two huge veins, the ones that hold raw iron and raw copper blocks, still form in the ground and still hold vanilla's ore blocks. Ancient debris is still vanilla's, and so are the other Nether deposits (gravel, magma, soul sand, blackstone).
