Using it

Right-click a placed part to read it, to the nearest 5%:

• Cat's Whisker Detector: the response of the spot the whisker rests on (or "burnt spot" / "no crystal").
• Redstone Coherer: welded or open, and its condition.
• Relay: closed or open, and its condition.

Right-click in the air with a Trace Board in your other hand to read its traces, substrate and joints. The debug helmet reads the same figures exactly.
