Feedbacker
A gauntlet that punches any projectile back at whoever sent it, faster than it came. The name is borrowed from the Feedbacker arm in ULTRAKILL, whose parry it echoes; it is not named after this mod.
It is a bracer-slot combat gear piece, and it grants the technique itself: no skill needed.
Getting one
Craft it:
P C P
P E P
_ L _
P is a Steel Plate, C a Copper Coil, E an Electromagnet and L Leather. The recipe appears once you have a steel plate; the gauntlet comes out tempered steel.
It is also a rare find (about 4%) in dungeon, stronghold and ancient city chests, already 30 to 70% worn.
Using it
Wear it in the bracer slot, and press G (parry) with nothing in your hand. A window opens (5 ticks, a 75° cone, 20 ticks of recovery).
- Any projectile (arrow, bolt, thrown weapon) that reaches you in the window is turned and sent back along your look at 2.5× their speed.
- A ghast fireball comes back as well, without exploding on you. It costs much more of the gauntlet.
- Bullets from a gun: if you punch as a shot is fired, facing the shooter, it is negated and a return shot hits the shooter for 2.5× the bullet's damage, credited to you. A punched-back shot can't be parried again. (A weapon parry doesn't catch bullets: they land.)
It plays its own sound, and the arm you punch with is drawn with the gauntlet's skin, in first and third person, for you and anyone watching.
What it costs
A punch takes 1 wear plus 12 for every whole multiple of the gauntlet's rating (150 impulse, raised by the worn gear's joint share) the projectile carried. An arrow is about 45; a ghast fireball is 120 to 150; anything much heavier is far over. A punch that is over the rating wrecks it for 150 wear.
It has 400 durability, and it is never destroyed: at its last point it simply stops granting the punch. There is no way to repair it yet.
