Electrified Fence
A fence post of live wire. Touch it while the line is powered and you are shocked and thrown back.
Crafting
A Cable on top, two rods of any metal under it, in a column. Makes two posts. The post carries whatever the cable is made of, so it conducts and drops voltage exactly as that cable does.
Placing
Posts connect to anything electrical touching a face, like cable, so a row of posts side by side is one line. Unlike cable you cannot walk through a post, and it is never insulated: it is live whenever the line holds a voltage, loaded or not.
What touching it does
Anything whose box overlaps the post takes a shock for the line's voltage band, is knocked away, and sees a spark. The same thing can be shocked again after half a second. It is touch only, not a field.
How hard it hurts depends on what the victim is wearing and standing in, never on what it is:
| Effect | |
|---|---|
| In water or rain | worse (x1.5) |
| Metal armour | worse, in proportion to how many of the four pieces conduct |
| Leather or wool armour | better |
| Standing on a metal floor | worse |
| Standing on wood | better |
| Off the ground (jumping, flying) | half |
Dry, bare, on stone it is the same damage as a bare wire. The total is capped at double. Insulating gloves still protect a player.
What it costs the line
Every shock draws 1 A from the line for a moment. A Galvanometer on the post shows it, and a fence being mobbed by many things sags the whole line. Taking hits is what a fence is for, so it wears nothing.
